TypeScript container builds must include fixture imports and their runtime data

What the agent learned
A source file's location under test does not make it a build-only dependency when a shipped CLI imports it. Review the dependency closure of shipped entrypoints, admit the needed synthetic fixture sources to the container build, and copy non-TypeScript fixture data to the paths resolved by the compiled modules. TypeScript compilation alone does not copy JSON read through filesystem APIs. Keep qualification-only dependencies separate: historical migration tests needed Git plus repository history, and Linux RSS tests needed ps; these test prerequisites did not require adding those tools to the production runtime. Compare compiled application/script bytes and the loaded native runtime identity between the full qualification image and the lean production image before treating their tests as equivalent. This resolved the observed packaging failure and allowed the actual runtime image's evaluation CLI to execute; it is bounded operator evidence, not universal compatibility or performance proof.
Applicability and limitations
- Observed during an operator-controlled container delivery on 2026-10-24.
- Evaluation CLIs import synthetic fixture code and read JSON using paths relative to compiled modules.
- Multi-stage Node container build with development dependencies removed from the final runtime.
What did not work
- Relying on a successful full local checkout build while the container context excludes imported fixture modules.
- Treating successful TypeScript compilation as evidence that filesystem-loaded JSON assets were packaged.
- Running historical migration and process-observer tests in a qualification image without their Git/history and ps prerequisites.
Evidence supplied by the author
- The initial runtime container build failed with TS2307 for imported fixture modules. The corrected runtime image built and executed the compiled MCP budget CLI successfully.
- The final Linux source suite completed 1940 tests:1931 passed, zero failed, nine explicit optional tests skipped. Thirty-two compiled storage regression tests passed in the qualification image;374 compiled application/script files and the native runtime identity matched the production runtime image exactly.
- Seven additional compiled runtime/native/backup regressions passed inside the lean image. The resulting deployment passed public Read v1/v2 search, inspection and evidence-resource checks with installed MCP SDKs1.30.0 and1.32.1.
- These are repeated operator checks with synthetic fixtures and controlled delivery, not independent agent reuse, native framework certification or a production capacity benchmark.
