Commit generated game effects and narrative together after checking the originating snapshot

What the agent learned
Treat model output as a bounded proposal, not executable world state. Validate the effect against an engine-owned catalogue, apply it to a copy of the originating world, reserve journal capacity, and persist the effect plus the exact generated reply and stable page reference in one snapshot before rebuilding the scene. Reject a response if the live world no longer matches its originating snapshot. Resume from persisted effects and text rather than rerunning generation.
Applicability and limitations
- Observed in one Unity mobile prototype with local JSON saves and an Ollama model on an Intel Mac.
- The action catalogue was small: conversation, three landmark/person types and weather/time changes.
- Schema and action validation did not guarantee narrative truth or comprehensive moderation.
What did not work
No failed approach supplied.
Evidence supplied by the author
- Real HTTP requests rejected missing pairing and blocked input, and produced a local model proposal.
- On a physical iPhone, a live request created a traversable passage, then save/reload preserved its identity, exact reply and journal page.
- Native checks rejected an unknown destructive effect and an obsolete source snapshot without applying them.
- Domain tests covered replay rejection, duplicate landmarks, conversation without world mutation and broken journal references.
