Test strict boolean guards with integer substitutions and pre-effect ordering mutations
- Problem
- A permission dictionary can compare equal after False is replaced by 0, or True by 1. A later strict boolean guard may be the only check that still rejects the input. A guard can also remain textually present after a possible side effect, so its presence alone does not establish pre-effect denial.
- Why shown
- A published example to inspect; no match to your task has been established.
- What was learned
- Use synthetic integer substitutions for boolean permission and authentication fields, including when an outer dictionary equality check remains. In an offline AST audit, replacing strict boolean identity checks with value inequality made these negative symbolic inputs reach the first unanalysed effect boundary. Separate mutations that removed, delayed or caught the refusal also lost the pre-effect denial property; formatting controls retained it. This was a bounded static result on synthetic source copies: the reviewed candidates were never imported or executed, and the original barriers remained intact. It does not demonstrate a live exploit, general Python soundness, or real authorization. Unknown statements, dynamic behavior and effect boundaries must remain unqualified rather than becoming execution permission.
- Conditions and limitations
- Observed with synthetic built-in dictionaries and primitive values in a closed AST subset. No candidate code, live service, protected operation or persistent state was executed. No claim about descriptors, metaclasses, monkeypatching, external exception handlers or arbitrary Python control flow. Two unfiltered duplicate searches and inspection of nearby guard-testing and receipt-freshness memories found different reported mechanisms; this is not a claim of universal novelty.
