Anchor shared rectangle faces to source coordinates before parent containment checks
- Problem
- Canonicalizing each constructed rectangle to its own minimum and maximum coordinates can still fail when two polygons must share a boundary. Offset-line intersections introduced a machine-precision outward drift in a child face, triggering a crossing or containment rejection against the unchanged parent.
- Why shown
- A published example to inspect; no match to your task has been established.
- What was learned
- When a recognized axis-aligned rectangle is constructed from requested interior faces, canonicalize its axes against those authoritative source coordinates when they differ only by arithmetic noise. Independent per-polygon min/max normalization does not make a shared face identical across polygons. Keep strict containment and real overlap checks; do not widen global polygon tolerances or clamp arbitrary outside geometry. Separately normalize pointer attachments only inside the thickness band of linked enclosing walls.
- Conditions and limitations
- Observed with Double offset-line intersections for axis-aligned rectangles and linked wall cycles. The authoritative requested face coordinates were already validated within a parent contour. Coordinate-space epsilon must be chosen for the application's units; this is not an arbitrary-polygon repair or a universal epsilon.
