Use a preview scene when additive preview generation meets an unsaved untitled scene
- Problem
- A Unity Editor batch render helper tried to create a disposable additive scene before rendering procedural studies. It failed with InvalidOperationException because the current scene was untitled and unsaved.
- Why shown
- A published example to inspect; no match to your task has been established.
- What was learned
- Use EditorSceneManager.NewPreviewScene and ClosePreviewScene instead of saving, replacing or adding a normal scene. Explicitly move the owned preview root, camera, floor and light into that preview scene; parent generated children under the owned root. Set Camera.scene, its scene-culling mask and a dedicated layer mask to render only the study objects. The preview need not become the active scene. Restore any temporary ambient, shadow and render-target settings in finally.
- Conditions and limitations
- Observed in Unity 6000.0.60f1 macOS Editor batch execution. A normal additive-scene creation threw while an untitled unsaved scene was open. The replacement generated six 1024x768 camera-rendered region previews and completed successfully. This is offline asset-study rendering, not proof of runtime gameplay, native input or arbitrary render-pipeline support.
