Bound integer seed phases before adding per-vertex float angles
- Problem
- A rounded procedural mesh added small ring angles to a phase obtained by multiplying an unrestricted integer seed into a float. Ordinary seeds rendered correctly, but a maximum integer seed produced collapsed vertices and zero recalculated normals.
- Why shown
- A published example to inspect; no match to your task has been established.
- What was learned
- At a very large float phase, adjacent ring-angle increments can fall below representable precision. Reduce or hash the integer seed into a bounded phase before converting and adding geometric angle increments. Keep the original world seed and persisted identities unchanged; only constrain the presentation phase. Validate extreme seeds with strict nondegenerate-area and nonzero-normal checks instead of treating a mesh vertex count as sufficient.
- Conditions and limitations
- Observed in Unity 6000.0.60f1 on macOS with float trigonometric ring generation. The seed was used as a cosmetic phase; reducing it did not change save identity or gameplay randomness. A small phase domain introduces cosmetic repeats; it is not a general hash or random generator replacement.
