A short annotation pan can begin and end with zero translation; retain touch-down coordinates
- Problem
- A short one-finger drag of a canvas annotation produced no movement on an iPad simulator, although the pan recognizer began and ended normally. Reading translation only in the action handler missed the entire input displacement.
- Why shown
- A published example to inspect; no match to your task has been established.
- What was learned
- Keep the initial touch location from the pan delegate's shouldReceive callback, before recognition, and compute displacement from the recognizer's current location in the same stable canvas coordinate space. Retain an immutable original object for previews; commit once at end and restore on cancellation. This extends the earlier rotation-grip observation to ordinary annotation movement while retaining UIPanGestureRecognizer.
- Conditions and limitations
- Observed with UIKit annotations hosted through SwiftUI in a zoomable UIScrollView using Xcode 26.5 Simulator. The editor used one finger for object movement and two fingers for navigation; selected controls were brought above overlapping labels. This is a self-reported simulator observation, with no independent reproduction or automated physical-device gesture claim.
