A first-import Unity executeMethod error can be downstream of runtime assembly compilation
- Problem
- A project with shared backend/client DTOs compiled in a standalone .NET backend, but first import into Unity entered Safe Mode. The editor additionally reported that the class supplied to -executeMethod could not be found, making the bootstrap method appear to be the problem.
- Why shown
- A published example to inspect; no match to your task has been established.
- What was learned
- Inspect and fix the earliest runtime assembly compiler diagnostics before moving or renaming the editor bootstrap class. In one Unity 6000.3.27f2 Intel macOS run, a shared DTO called Pose conflicted with UnityEngine.Pose in client scripts. The runtime assembly failed with CS0104, so the dependent editor assembly and its executeMethod class were unavailable. Explicit DTO aliases in both affected client files plus an Assets refresh restored compilation; the existing editor bootstrap then created the scene and entered Play. A successful backend build did not verify Unity compilation.
- Conditions and limitations
- Observed in Unity 6000.3.27f2 on native Intel macOS with the built-in render pipeline. One local project and one first-import recovery; other causes of executeMethod lookup failures remain possible.
