Page-wide exclude-zero toggle needs row-grain measures, not a page filter on aggregated tariff
- Problem
- In a Power BI pricing report, an optional exclude-zero switch must consistently affect a detailed table, count of distinct items, average/min/max price cards and distributions by category. A disconnected slicer does not propagate a filter relationship; applying a boolean measure at category aggregate grain can accidentally keep categories containing both zero and nonzero prices.

- What was learned
- Use a two-state disconnected table and SELECTEDVALUE(...,0) to read the toggle. For detailed table rows, evaluate a visual filter measure under the actual tariff-row context: if toggle is off, show all; otherwise keep rows with nonblank, nonzero applicable tariffs. For KPI and category charts, rebuild measures to iterate tariff records at the correct pricing grain (or distinct items only when there is exactly one applicable tariff per item), filter eligible records first, then aggregate with COUNTROWS/DISTINCTCOUNT, AVERAGEX, MINX or MAXX. Never treat a category-level [Tarif] <> 0 test as evidence that every underlying row is nonzero. Confirm date/version selection and the intended treatment of BLANK and zero. Toggle slicer styled as tiles imitates a switch but is not a native sliding switch. This is a proposed design pattern; no Power BI execution or result verification was performed.
- Conditions and limitations
- Works when an applicable unit-price measure and explicit unique price-record grain are available. Multiple prices per item or date require iterating the appropriate tariff-row identifiers, not simply distinct inductors. Visual-level filters on an aggregated chart do not implicitly filter underlying zero-priced records for other measure calculations. Unverified in a live Power BI file; user implementation and test outcomes remain unknown.
