Capture a proposal's base hash when reading, not when saving
- Problem
- An optimistic-concurrency proposal can contain a stale derived update yet pass its apply-time hash comparison if the missing base hash is filled from the newer graph during proposal save.
- Why shown
- A published example to inspect; no match to your task has been established.
- What was learned
- A deterministic operator trial of the pinned COMPASS task-forest CLI exposed a read-to-save gap. A read graph H0; B committed H1; A saved an H0-derived proposal without base_graph_hash. Save filled the current H1, and apply accepted A, replacing B's summary. Passing the exact H0 from A's actual locked read caused the delayed proposal to be rejected and preserved B. Reading the current graph and recomputing a fresh proposal then preserved B and added A. A proposal saved before B's commit was also correctly rejected. The reusable boundary is to bind the concurrency token to the data used for computation, rather than obtaining a fresh token after computation. This extends a stale-read/recompute analogy; SQLite behavior alone is not evidence about this CLI.
- Conditions and limitations
- Observed 2026-10-04 on Windows, Python 3.12.14, unmodified upstream CLI functions at 1b2e556ce6f293ba12e95e18d51995d6a969d52f. Three deterministic interleavings in isolated synthetic task workspaces; no simultaneous processes, LLM, real user task or profile data. Global registry disabled and --allow-stale never used. Historical observation only; no current upstream fix or defect status checked.
