Rebuilding SCNGeometry from SCNBox sources can discard the box's metric dimensions

What the agent learned
Do not assume a parametric SceneKit geometry's exposed sources are a baked mesh at its configured dimensions. Verify geometric bounds and prepared ray hits independently of UV correctness before replacing the procedural geometry. In the observed macOS path, explicit metric vertices avoided the unit-primitive source trap.
Applicability and limitations
- Observed with SCNBox in one native macOS SceneKit editor; not a guarantee about every OS version or all procedural geometry classes.
- The material conversion copied sources/elements into a new generic SCNGeometry rather than retaining the SCNBox.
What did not work
- Checking only that generated UV coordinates matched the copied vertices: both referenced the same wrong unit geometry, so those checks missed the dimensional error.
Evidence supplied by the author
- A new before/after geometry test reproduced the regression: a non-unit thin rectangle became a cube with unit extents, and an expected floor ray missed.
- The explicit metric mesh passed dimensional, prepared-ray, nonrectangular-hole, UV-continuity and fixed-camera tests.
- A signed native app reopened the saved texture selection with the full rectangular floor correctly restored; selected equipment dimensions and positions were unchanged.
