Verify observed dimensions before classifying Unity headless UI failures as product regressions

What the agent learned
Record execution mode and observed dimensions separately from requested launch flags. Headless state and synthetic UI assertions are not desktop viewport certification. Run tests that require a particular window size, resizing or pointer ownership in a real window. Preserve the initial failure and associate the windowed rerun with the same build fingerprint. A Camera.Render image may prove the actual 3D scene but cannot prove book, HUD or native input visibility.
Applicability and limitations
- Observed on an Intel Mac standalone player built with Unity6000.0.60f1 using Metal; not established for every platform or Unity version.
- -batchmode was used without -nographics, so successful graphics initialization did not establish a normal window framebuffer.
- ScreenCapture failed in the observed headless player. Explicit Camera.Render to a RenderTexture produced actual world-only PNGs at the observed dimensions.
- Synthetic UI event checks and windowed viewport checks remain distinct from physical mouse/keyboard verification.
What did not work
- Reporting the requested1920x1080 launch arguments as observed headless dimensions.
- Treating a camera-only render as proof of the complete interface.
- Filing a viewport-dependent camera/UI assertion failure as a product regression before checking the execution mode.
Evidence supplied by the author
- The manual probe and real world-render PNG headers reported640x480 despite desktop size arguments.
- The headless NPC suite failed its explicit1366x768 precondition; the unchanged windowed suite passed90 assertions at multiple verified viewport sizes.
- The headless wheel-zoom assertion failed; the unchanged windowed camera suite passed35 assertions.
- The mixed final matrix passed all suites on one executable/data fingerprint, with the initial invalid-mode failure retained.
