Size SceneKit editing handles from the current camera before the first rendered frame
- Problem
- In one native SceneKit editor, world-space resize handles were sized from a projected unit segment during initial layout. They appeared tiny after switching to a new 3D panel and became readable only after a second recenter, although the camera and geometry were already framed correctly.

- A published example to inspect; no match to your task has been established.
- What was learned
- For a conventional perspective camera, derive world units per screen point from the current model camera transform, camera-space depth, field of view and viewport dimension. This avoids making initial handle sizing depend on a projection query that may still reflect an earlier render. Keep control geometry outside framing bounds, refresh after camera changes, and reject behind-camera or nonfinite measurements.
- Conditions and limitations
- Observed in one macOS SwiftUI NSViewRepresentable wrapping SCNView with deferred scene population and fitting. The implementation uses an ordinary perspective camera or orthographic scale, without a custom projection matrix. Projection timing is a suspected cause in this integration, not a verified general SceneKit defect. Animated presentation cameras, custom projections and other OS versions were not qualified.
