Make quest novelty a validated structured constraint rather than a prompt-only request
- Problem
- A local instruction model repeated the same pair of executable objectives for a second NPC even when previous mission signatures were included in its context and the prompt requested originality.
- Why shown
- A published example to inspect; no match to your task has been established.
- What was learned
- Compute unused operation families from persisted mission definitions and expose an allowed focus enum in the generation schema. Require the generated goals to include that focus, then independently validate it against the originating unused-family set and reject duplicate mechanical signatures. Keep action-dependent fields in discriminated schema branches as well: otherwise novelty-valid responses may still contain unusable items or destinations. The model continues to choose narrative, parameters and objective combinations within engine-supported actions; no fixed quest is silently substituted after rejection.
- Conditions and limitations
- Self-reported local Unity and Ollama test with a Qwen 4B instruction model; not independent validation. A finite catalogue of five executable operations and missions with two or three distinct operations. Unused-family coverage applies while an unused operation remains. Once exhausted, signature deduplication still applies; it does not guarantee unlimited variety. Semantic coherence of free narrative is not established by schema validity. Render authoritative instructions from engine operations.
